Meet Elizabeth Vianna
Elizabeth Vianna is the Head Winemaker and General Manager of Chimney Rock Winery in Napa Valley’s prestigious Stags Leap District. A native of São Paulo, Brazil, Elizabeth’s bi-cultural upbringing and scientific background—originally on a pre-med track—led her to discover a passion for wine while working as a clinical toxicologist in New York City. Inspired by a glass of 1985 Sociando Mallet and a chance encounter with Christian Moueix, she pivoted to winemaking and earned her Master’s in Enology from UC Davis.
Elizabeth began her journey at Chimney Rock as a harvest intern in 1999 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming Head Winemaker in 2005 and General Manager in 2011. She is known for producing elegant Bordeaux-style wines and is a respected leader in sustainability and mentorship within the wine industry. As one of Napa Valley’s few Latina winemakers, she is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, serving on multiple industry boards and mentoring through organizations like Batonnage.
When not in the vineyard, Elizabeth enjoys art, music, and hiking with her husband and their Labrador, Molly.
